How did it all started?
After escaping from a restaurant because she had no money to pay for it, starting a college career she didn’t love and living in a nonsense routine, Vivi Ruffino decided it was time to give a twist to her life and pursue her dreams.
Taking a small loan of US$50 from her grandma to buy fabrics and pay her seamstress aunt for the first production, Vivi started sewing the first stitches of the foundations of her dream where her first customers were friends and family members, but she knew she could reach farther. One day she was talking with her boyfriend David Matias about her true passion which is fashion design and brought up the idea of building a brand together, since then nothing but support and motivation has been his answer to her. Together, they decided the goal was to make a change in the world with this brand, starting with making a change in their community first, by providing responsible jobs to the locals, with no exclusion, both Dominicans and Haitians working together to produce unique quality pieces full of good vibes.
In February 2014 they launched Freedom Beachwear and started selling local trough Instagram and Facebook but David knew they needed something else. They needed to go global, so he started developing a website on his own and 4 months later they had their own online store and started selling worldwide.
Our pieces have traveled all around the world making girls feel unique and free in their 'kinis. Nothing but a growing demand, great feedback and love is what the brand has received in return and the fact that by doing what we love you get to benefit so much is an irreplaceable feeling. That's why we’ve decided to keep bringing our ideas to life and connecting with all of you through our taste and imagination.
